GIS & Mapping
What is GIS?
A geographic information system (GIS) integrates hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.
GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts.
A GIS helps you answer questions and solve problems by looking at your data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared.
GIS technology can be integrated into any enterprise information system framework.
NMDC's GIS and Mapping Department has been using industry standard GIS software for a variety of projects since 2000. This has facilitated the evolution and assimilation of our extensive computer mapping to a full Geographic Information System (GIS) environment.
The current database includes geographic base data at the town, regional, and state levels. This data is used in a variety of projects, including transportation, economic development, and planning projects. NMDC provides a variety of mapping services to member towns upon request. If you would like more information about our GIS and mapping services, or if you have a particular project you would like assistance with, please contact us.
