Working With Government
The Maine PTAC is part of a nationwide network of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, or PTAC's, that helps Maine small businesses obtain government contracts with the Department of Defense, other federal agencies, state and local governments and federal prime contractors.
Last fall, NMDC successfully negotiated with the Maine Center located at Eastern Maine Development Corporation in Bangor (EMDC) to establish a service sub-center. Our goal is to better advise and inform northern Maine’s small business community of the various local, state, and federal contract opportunities that are available to all qualifying companies.
Selling to the government may be intimidating at first. Maine PTAC's trained staff are here to guide you through the government buying process and assist you in becoming a qualified government contractor. We will work with you to identify appropriate federal, state and local agencies and develop targeted marketing strategies. We will visit your facility, evaluate your prime and subcontract opportunities and provide technical assistance from bid preparation to final payment.
