Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG)

NMDC assists member communities with the development of applications for funding of potential projects through the CDBG program and through other Federal Economic Development Administration (EDA) programs.

The CDBG program assists local municipalities with projects that:
• benefit low and moderate income persons;
• are part of a long range community strategy;
• improve deteriorated residential and business districts and local economic conditions;
• provide the conditions and incentives for further public and private investment; and
• foster partnerships between groups of municipalities, state and federal entities, organizations and the private sector to address common community and economic development problems.

The CDBG program supports these types of projects:
• Water and sewer projects
• Road reconstruction and sidewalk repair
• Downtown revitalization projects
• Community centers
• Welfare to work programs and literacy training
• Workforce training
• Dental and health care programs
• Health care centers
• Housing rehabilitation programs
• Pier reconstruction
• Accessibility improvements
• Community planning projects
