We’re often asked, “What does MEP stand for?” We like to think it stands for helping Maine’s manufacturing businesses become more competitive and profitable. Technically, Maine MEP refers to the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership. Maine MEP is part of a network of centers throughout the United States affiliated with the U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards (NIST).
NMDC is proud to be one of the field offices for Maine MEP. A field engineer is located at our Caribou office to assist local manufacturers in becoming more competitive with new manufacturing and management technologies. Local companies can gain access to more than 2,000 manufacturing and business specialists, including the entire staff of Maine MEP with their specialized knowledge of doing business in Maine. Access to these MEP professionals means you’ll be working with people who are experienced in manufacturing environments – they’ve been where you are today.
