McDonald Named Entrepreneur Development Manager at NMDC

CARIBOU — Northern Maine Development Commission (NMDC) is proud to announce the hiring of Brandon McDonald as program manager for entrepreneurial development.

McDonald is a 2018 graduate from Husson University with a degree in business administration. He currently is enrolled in the Husson University Master of Business Administration program.

McDonald’s role at NMDC is to encourage and support a new generation of entrepreneurs in Aroostook and Washington counties and thus significantly improve the region’s chances to grow the economy and jobs through the support of small business success.

“I have had the pleasure of working alongside small start-ups and entrepreneurs in Central Aroostook over the past few years,” said McDonald. “I have seen the tremendous shift as home-based businesses and entrepreneurial spirit blossomed through Presque Isle events, from our craft fairs to the Farmers’ Market. As a former small business owner, I am excited and proud to continue my work with those who have an innovative drive and a captivating story to tell.”

NMDC Executive Director Robert Clark said the Commission is excited to have Brandon on board.

“Brandon is very comfortable engaging people as we look for up and coming entrepreneurs,” he said. “There is an opportunity to help grow the economy by implementing solutions to leverage the region’s existing regional economic advantages and regional assets to support economic development and job creation. One of those assets is the entrepreneurial spirit of northern and eastern Maine residents.”

McDonald currently serves on the Presque Isle Planning Board and the PI Housing Authority Advisory board. He lives in Presque Isle with his wife, Taylor-Kay, and their two children.

McDonald’s first day on the job was Nov. 12.
