Join the Aroostook County Tourism Board of Directors
Aroostook County Tourism (ACT) is seeking passionate, creative, and community-minded individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors. If you are a business owner, marketer, or industry professional dedicated to sharing the story of Northern Maine, we want to hear from you.
The Opportunity
The ACT Board of Directors is a 12-member body that guides the regional marketing, branding, and promotional efforts for the Crown of Maine. We currently have four openings for two-year terms beginning in June 2026.
Priority Openings:
- One Seat: Central Aroostook Region
- One Seat: St. John Valley Region
- Two Seats: North Maine Woods Region
About the Board
Board members provide the local insight and industry expertise necessary to execute multichannel campaigns that reach visitors across New England and beyond with great content reflective of this treasured place.
- Commitment: Two-year terms with monthly meetings held at the NMDC office in Caribou (with Zoom options available).
- Impact: Guide the annual Aroostook County Tourism Summit, facilitate Coffee & Tourism roundtables, and help select the Best of Aroostook Awards.
- Representation: We strive for a diverse board representing lodging, dining, retail, motorized and non-motorized recreation, arts, and more.
How to Apply
To be considered for one of the four open seats, please submit a formal letter of interest (no longer than two pages) detailing:
- Your interest in joining the board.
- Your relevant experience in tourism, business, or marketing.
- Your contact information and one person of reference.

About Aroostook County Tourism
Aroostook County Tourism is a program of the Maine Office of Tourism hosted at the Northern Maine Development Commission works to strengthen the economy of northern Maine through tourism marketing, promotion, and development. Working under the brand Aroostook, The Crown of Maine, ACT highlights the region’s natural beauty, recreation, culture, history, and communities to visitors from around the world.
To drive visitors to the region, ACT executes year-round, multichannel marketing campaigns across digital platforms, social media, broadcast, and print media. The organization produces eight annual promotional maps and guidebooks while representing the region at major industry trade shows, including the Big East Powersports Show and the Epping Grass Drags. Additionally, ACT celebrates local excellence by hosting the annual Best of Aroostook Awards to honor the businesses and destinations that define the region. Aroostook County Tourism is not a membership organization.
